FYI I was reading this perfect review on my phone when both kids looked over my shoulder and said "Hey is this about Dog Man?" and then the 7yo started to read aloud, from the beginning. He did a great job and they both enjoyed learning what GFDI stands for :) Also thank you for the Inside Out shade, after watching those movies I always feel like I've been manhandled
hahaha love this - I had another convo last night w japhy and he said dog man is the only thing anyone is talking about at school, and he said all the "news" starts with fifth grade (he's in second), so they started the groundswell of dog man fever, which i love. i love that it didn't come from us lame-ass nostalgia-riddled adults <3
I'm really belatedly going through my email so expect some weird random comments on back issues. But: I never saw the Inside Out movies. And I know they're supposed to be so great? But everyone talks about one thing and it's how they emotionally destroy you. Is it weird I don't want to feel that way?
Yeah this is I think what I was trying to understand myself - there was something so kid-right about Japhs seeing abandonment happen onscreen and be like “it’s really sad” but not actually look sad or crying and then a minute later be laughing at bacon - a second thought I have is about the extremely low tolerance I had for emotional/sad stuff after having kids
Thank you for this review. I keep opening Letterboxed hoping to see more unhinged reviews but they've been slow to come in. I haven't seen it YET but my child went through Dog Man and now my nephew's going through it.
I've gone down the rabbithole now: "show me the dead cop’s wife coping with the decision to stitch a dog’s head to her dead husband’s body. really liked petey and lil petey though. bacon bacon bacon"

I love the paragraph about the MAGA hat guy and his son. So sad about the reality of this presidential term, however.
I must read Dog Man.
must get some copies to oz <3

"pretty good for a kids movie but the pacing felt like I was watching subway surfers gameplay" oh that's good
"Better than Heretic"
"'How evil can one cat be?!'
'Pretty evil!'"
ahaha i agree with all of these - esp "how evil? pretty evil!"
"Hilarious movie!! Pete Davidson is having so much fun with this! It has almost no plot and serious pacing issues!" LOLOLOLOL
"almost no plot" - this is so accurate, and did the kids care? NO. the ending, which i won't spoil, makes NO SENSE

please send me any good reviews lol i need something to chew on
Thank you for reviewing Dog Man. I just started a group chat titled "Dog Man" to rally the kids for this weekend.
i really need more people's reviews of this!!
